Sailing through History

From Istanbul to the ancient city of Ephesus to the beautiful Turquoise Coast to the mysterious landscape of the Anatolian heartland, we'll explore the best of this fascinating crossroads of civilization. Enjoy stunning city sites, archeological wonders and two boat rides along the Coast in a classic vessel.

Highlights of this trip include:

  • Tour Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar in the city known as Istanbul, Constantinople and Byzantium.
  • Take in vistas of Istanbul from a cruise along the Bosphorus.
  • Be dazzled by Istanbul's dizzying nightlife.
  • Experience a traditional Turkish bath (hamam).
  • Explore Ephesus, one of the largest and best-preserved ancient sites in the world.
  • Relax on a comfortable Turkish gulet ( yacht) for one full-day cruise and one half-day cruise to experience the variety of landscapes along the Turquoise Coast,
  • Walk through history at Myra, Perge and Aspendos near Antalya.
  • Visit the home of the Whirling Dervishes in Konya.
  • See the otherworldly sandstone formations of Cappadocia.

We don't offer every trip every year, and no departures are currently scheduled for this trip. Our home page will make it easy to locate forthcoming departures of interest.

Travelling Alone?
So are most of the people who travel with us. You do not need to pay extra to travel by yourself. Prices are per-person, and the single supplement applies only if you'd like a room by yourself. For selected trips, especially if the trip includes a cruise, we charge half the single supplement if you request a roommate, but we are not able to match you with someone.

Location: Starts and ends in Istanbul

Price includes: All transportation within Turkey, including flight from Istanbul to Izmir and from Cappadocia (Kayseri) to Istanbul; Airport departure taxes for group flights; Transfers from Istanbul Airport to hotel on arrival; Deluxe hotel rooms in double occupancy, with private bath (limited number of single rooms available upon request); All breakfasts, 11 lunches and 6 dinners; Entrance fees to included sites, as well as to a Turkish bath in Istanbul; One full day and one half day ride on classical gulet (sailing vessel) along Turquoise Coast; Gratuities for porterage and included meals.

Not included: Airfare between home and Istanbul; Airport departure taxes for international flights (if any); Turkish visa obtained upon arrival (cost has recently been US$20 payable in cash upon arrival at Istanbul); Gratuity for guides and hotel staff; Personal items including: alcoholic beverages, snacks, laundry, and telephone calls.
