HE Travel has formed its first official SMART Ride Team to ride together from Miami to Key West in November to honor our friends and neighbors with HIV/AIDS. We would like to personally invite all of you to join us for this great adventure!
Maintaining the vision with which this event was started 12 years ago, all donations go directly to AIDS Service Organizations and are directed to prevention, education and direct services.
HIV/AIDS has severely affected everyone in our community. We are reaching out to our amazing base of travelers who have toured the world with us, and hope to have 20 of you join us as riders or support team members this year. If you can’t join us, we encourage you to support our efforts with an HE Travel team donation or donations to support the personal goals of individual riders.

Trisha Ashcraft
Trisha is very eager for the Smart Ride! A couple of years ago, she was spending the day at Higgs Beach with a few friends. It was then she noticed some commotion on the White Street Pier. She still remembers watching the riders roll out onto the pier for the closing event. This was a life changing, and emotional experience! This year, she is honored to be part of the HE Travel Smart Ride team, where 100% of the money raised goes to the cause. She’s also honored to be able to ride onto the pier this year as she had seen that first time.

Zachary Moses
Each year, Zach takes groups of gay men all over the world on bike tours run by HE Travel. As magical as these trips are, this year he wanted to do something that gave more hope and meaning to a bike tour. To accomplish this, Zach formed the HE Travel Smart Ride team. He would like to encourage you to join the team, or to donate to this amazing cause!

Jerry Ostmeyer
Jerry thinks it is very important to help raise money for all beneficiaries of the SMART Ride. He started out riding in the Lone Star Ride 5 yrs ago. After completing two (2) Lone Star Rides he decided to take his fund raising ability and see other rides in the United States. In 2012 he took part in the Aids Life Cycle, California. After riding the west coast he made up his mind to ride the East Coast. What could be a more beautiful ride then the one from Miami to Key West?

Kaleb Smith
Ever since he lived in Los Angeles he watched friends sign up for different rides for different reasons; to challenge themselves, to commit to something, to be a part of something greater than themselves, for the cause or for a friend. This year he is proud to say he has joined the ranks of other dedicated people. He has friends and family that support him and a job that not only encourages this type of adventure but almost demands it. This September he will be going to France on his first bike tour. He is not just doing this ride to challenge himself, but for those people in his life who live with HIV.
