Sin City
After spending a fun-filled week with the Millennial Travel Forum in Barbados, I was back in Salt Lake City. As soon as I walked out of the airport, I was reminded of how cold it can get in our desert wonderland. Anyone who’s taken a winter trip to the tropics knows the feeling of stepping out of the airport and back into your frigid homeland. So, when I got back to the HE Travel headquarters in Salt Lake City, we immediately hopped in a car and drove down to Las Vegas, Nevada. Being that Vegas is the first stop on our Grand Canyon Rafting Adventure, we figured we’d experience some of the fun things you can do for a possible gay Las Vegas extension tour.
Beautiful Scenery in Las Vegas
I opted to take the roads instead of flying because there are a lot of cool red rock formations that you get to see en route to Las Vegas. Now, Cynthia and I haven’t yet had the chance to ride the white water rapids of the Grand Canyon, but knowing that the same winds carved these magnificent rock sculptures definitely put it high on my bucket list. Six hours passed and I had arrived at my super luxurious, Alexa-controlled room at the Las Vegas Wynn.
The first thing we wanted to do was take a trip to the world-renowned Thai restaurant, Lotus of Siam. We made a reservation beforehand, and they said they’d cancel it if we were late! So, I did what any sensible HE Travel member would do and rented a burnt orange, 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds Nissan GT-R. For the uninitiated, this car is known as Godzilla for the many races it has dominated over the years. We got everywhere early and surprisingly didn’t get pulled over on our 0 to 100 mph test.
The Spooky Side Of Sin City
We figured while we were on an adrenaline high, we’d zip over to Zak Bagan’s Haunted Museum for some frights. This place smelled like an old sweaty attic. The decorations were bizarre but you just couldn’t look away. Warning: you’ll regret you entered some rooms! For fans of the show Ghost Adventures, you might run into Zak Bagan as we did. After fist bumping Zak, we were itching to give the GT-R back to its rightful owner. After all, this is Vegas, and it was time to drink on the strip!
The Las Vegas Strip is Awesome
One of the magical parts about Vegas is walking drunkenly down the Strip. Taking in the flashing lights and bootleg versions of your favorite celebrities only happens here. Walk far enough and you might find yourself eating a delicious burger at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. Or stopped for a delightful fountain show at the Bellagio. Just don’t let anyone hand you any cards… unless you’re trying to collect them all. If you don’t know what that means, go to Vegas, and you’ll quickly find out.
We spent a total of three nights on this quick adventure and we wish we could’ve stayed even longer. We wrapped up the trip with a Cirque du Soleil show to the beat of our favorite Beatles songs. Las Vegas is a city that everyone needs to experience at least once, though they know you’ll be back.
