Zachary’s Notes – June 2023 – Cedar Key, Flying with Animals, and a Utah Historic Building Restoration.

June 11, 2023 by Zachary Moses

Greetings, fellow HE Travelers and adventure enthusiasts!

It’s that time again when I share with you the latest chapter of my journeys. This last month has been packed with exciting experiences and challenges. I returned from my visit to Cherie, my sister in Saipan, closed-down my house in Cedar Key, and embarked on a journey with my beloved pets to continue my restoration projects in Utah. So, grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let’s dive into the tales of my updated adventures from last month.

Cedar Key Farewell

I made the decision to close-down my house in Cedar Key and ensure it was well-prepared for any potential storms. While I won’t be there during hurricane season this year, it’s essential to take proactive measures to safeguard our homes. I secured windows, cleared the surroundings, and double-checked the emergency supplies, ensuring everything was in place to weather the storms. It’s always a bittersweet moment to say goodbye to my Florida home for the return to Salt Lake City, where our headquarters is located.

Taking to the Skies with Furry Companions

Next on my agenda was the actual journey to Salt Lake City. Up until now, we’ve been driving between Utah and Florida, in a slow year-and-a-half long move. Now, travel back to SLC involved two very special companions: my pet cat (KirriKu or Kitty Koo) and service dog Harper. Flying with animals can be an adventure, but with proper preparation, it becomes a seamless experience. I made sure to familiarize myself with the regulations, and my pets with their carriers, well in advance. I took them to the vet for checkups, and got a “flight ready form,” for my cat, plus many more things to ensure they were comfortable and at ease during the flight.

Admittedly, it took some extra planning, but the joy of having them by my side throughout the journey made it all worth it. Remember, fellow pet lovers, with the right arrangements, your furry friends can be your travel companions too!

However, pets cost money to travel with, unless it’s a service dog. Therefore, my dog was free, but the cat cost me some cash. #WorthIt

Utah Beckons – Restoration Project Begins

After bidding farewell to Cedar Key, I finally made it back to Utah, where an exciting building restoration project awaited me. In this visit, we are focused on breathing new life into the facade of our latest project. The entire process has been a labor of love, as we’ve carefully restored the intricate details, repaired any damage, and ensured the building’s historical essence remained intact. It’s incredible how much character and charm can be brought back to life with a little time and effort. Also, amazing what a little paint and putty can fix. Witnessing the transformation is incredibly fulfilling and fuels my passion for preserving architectural heritage.

As always, I’m grateful for the opportunity to share these experiences with all of you. Traveling, whether near or far, opens our minds, broadens our horizons, and teaches us valuable lessons. Remember, it’s not always about the destination, but the journey itself. So, embrace the unknown, savor the moments, and let the adventure unfold.

Last Minute Tour Updates:

Our Germany Cultural tour now has limited room availability and there’s only 1 spot left in a shared room for our 2023 Nile in Style tour. But we just announced our 2024 Nile in Style tour, so sign up now to get the best cabins!

By the way, I also started work on a new adventure tour in India. Is anyone interested in a 13-day journey, riding horses across the country? Full board, riding between lodges and camps. Stay tuned and reach out if you’re interested.

Safe travels, my fellow wanderers!

Warmly,

Zachary Moses
