Zachary’s January 2025 Notes: Weddings, Holidays, and Customer Appreciation

January 16, 2025 by Zachary Moses

This January has been a month of celebration, reflection, and gratitude. Here’s a glimpse into my personal and professional highlights as we kick off 2025, and Customer Appreciation Month!

A Special Wedding Ceremony

I had the honor of officiating the wedding of my dear friends and neighbors, Nancy and Dave. Nancy requested a short and sweet ceremony without public vows, or the word “obey”—a unique challenge I gladly accepted. The result? A heartfelt, meaningful ceremony that lasted under five minutes, from the Flower Girl’s entrance to the big “I do.”

Guests called it “the shortest wedding ever—in the best way!” Nancy loved it, and I was thrilled to be part of such a special moment.

Holiday Adventures in Cedar Key

The holidays were full of surprises. While we initially planned to spend Christmas alone, our neighbor Darrin joined us for a festive Christmas Eve celebration. Darrin, who’s unfortunately selling his guest house and moving away, brought warmth and laughter to our evening. We’ll miss him dearly.

Our son Archimedes arrived later than expected due to a sudden illness but joined us just in time for New Year’s celebrations. Together, we exchanged gifts and enjoyed countless games of backgammon—a passion Trisha and I recently picked up during our 2024 Nile in Style trip to Egypt. Let’s just say, our family debates about the “correct” way to set up the board were as lively as the games themselves!

An Unexpected Gift

Speaking of surprises, Darrin dropped by recently and gave us his boat! Yes, a fully functional boat now sits in our driveway. It was an incredibly generous gesture, and we’re so excited to put it to good use. Thank you, Darrin!

Rebuilding After the Storms

The past 16 months have been a whirlwind of recovery after Hurricane Idalia, followed by Hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton. Reconstructing our home has been a labor of love, but we’re making progress and looking forward to enjoying some well-deserved downtime soon.

About Zachary Moses

Zachary has done every job at HeTravel.com. He started in the marketing mailroom in 2010, and eventually worked his way up to serving 2 years on the board of directors for the National Tour Association and an additional two years serving as the CEO of HeTravel.com.

He ran for Governor of Utah as a Democrat in 2020, garnering international attention while running in this historically RED state.

During a 14-month long Pandemic-related forced "sabbatical," he returned to his passion of carpentry, having now restored several historic buildings. He also gave a TEDx talk in 2020 pitching an idea to save/restore the Great Salt Lake and other western saline lakes.

Zachary has returned to HE Travel, however, he is no longer the CEO and has now taken on the role of CXO or Chief Experience Officer.

Zach has been working with the company for more than a decade, and still leads tours, writes blogs, and speaks at international conferences.
