Zachary’s Notes; Colorful Colorado tour, September 2, 2022

September 4, 2022 by Zachary Moses

Hello fellow HE Travelers,

I’m sitting on the balcony

of the General Palmer Hotel, a historic hotel in downtown Durango, Colorado.

I love this town, and I love this hotel! My view looks like something from a movie set. Up the street is the Strater Hotel, which has been visited by many US Presidents. We’ve stayed there before, but General Palmer has nicer rooms, better beds, and way better parking.

I’m getting ready to deliver

our 2nd annual SW Colorado Dude Ranch tour. We’ve added a Durango Pre-Tour, and I’m in doing some extra scouting.

I spent the day yesterday hiking the Animas trail. Absolutely Gorgeous! Our orientation happens tonight. I still have to scout out a nice spot for it…maybe a fancy new wine bar, or perhaps a cowboy bar?…lots of pressure! Ha!

Life’s sure been a lot more fun

since things started opening again regardless of Covid. I love being back on the road. I finished another great Splash! Grand Canyon Rafting tour a couple of weeks ago.

It was amazing! I think that’s possibly one of the greatest trips we run. Unfortunately, we only have two launch dates for next year, so space will be extremely limited for 2023. I suggest that you book it soon if you’re hoping to join this life-changing experience. Every year it gets harder and harder to hold onto these charters, as demand for the canyon increases.

Unfortunately, upon emerging from the canyon

I discovered that the sale for our old office had fallen through. It’s a very cool house and property, but we’re already in the new building, so we need to sell it. We’ve painted it up pretty and converted it back into a residential home. Anyone want to move to SLC, and join us in this Opportunity Zone?

It’s a very cool 1906 Farmhouse. We bought it at auction 5 years ago and brought it back from the edge of death. It’s a cute place now.

When I was digging in the back to bury the trampoline,

I came across a 1907 silver dime worth 8 bucks! Woot! I’ll miss the place. I’m tempted to keep it as a rental because they’re so valuable in SLC right now, but it’s just too many projects to keep track of. We just relisted it, you can see the house here.

Trisha was supposed to join me on the ranch,

but she was invited to a tourism development show with the Adventure Travel Trade Association in Patagonia. She obviously ditched me for that opportunity. I can’t blame her; Patagonia is in high Demand, and Trisha builds good tour products. I can personally say Patagonia is awesome! If you want to join our Patagonia trip, hurry, there isn’t much space left.

Tour Updates:

Our current Patagonia Bottom of the World only has two spaces left!

The upcoming Botswana Luxury Safari also only has two spaces left (btw, this one is designed and led by Trisha)

I hope to see you on tour!

Warmly,

Zachary Moses

About Zachary Moses

Zachary has done every job at HeTravel.com. He started in the marketing mailroom in 2010, and eventually worked his way up to serving 2 years on the board of directors for the National Tour Association and an additional two years serving as the CEO of HeTravel.com.

He ran for Governor of Utah as a Democrat in 2020, garnering international attention while running in this historically RED state.

During a 14-month long Pandemic-related forced "sabbatical," he returned to his passion of carpentry, having now restored several historic buildings. He also gave a TEDx talk in 2020 pitching an idea to save/restore the Great Salt Lake and other western saline lakes.

Zachary has returned to HE Travel, however, he is no longer the CEO and has now taken on the role of CXO or Chief Experience Officer.

Zach has been working with the company for more than a decade, and still leads tours, writes blogs, and speaks at international conferences.
