Greetings Fellow HE Traveler’s,
This last month has been another one crammed with activity.
I hosted another successful SW Colorado Gay Dude Ranch adventure tour this month. The horses were great, and the food was spectacular! I’m not going to lie, I put on a few pounds. Colorado is always a ton of fun, and the nearby town of Durango is one of my favorite western towns. This is the place to experience the famous Rocky Mountain High.
Each year, our tour coincides with
The Four Corners Motorcycle Rally. The town is crawling with leather-clad bikers showing off their sweet machines. It can get loud. This year we started the tour in Durango and spent three days exploring and hanging out with bikers before going to the ranch. We played several rounds of pool with some cool locals in one of the local bars called the El Rancho Tavern. I love this bar; they have the best local western color/flavor.
For 2023 the Durango portion of the tour will be run as an optional pre-tour extension, and the main tour will only include the ranch experience. This also saves money and time for those on a tight schedule.
Once I got back to Salt Lake City, UT
I began cramming to get my construction projects wrapped up before our new seasonal return to Cedar Key, FL. It doesn’t matter how much I accomplish; I always feel perpetually behind on these self-inflicted construction deadlines. It also did not help my anxiety seeing that CAT4 Hurricane Ian was projected to go right over the top of our new waterfront commercial space. Thankfully the storm moved to the south and missed us. At high tide, all the water was sucked away from the bay behind our property. It breaks my heart seeing the devastation brought to Fort Myers instead. I have many friends in the communities hit by this awful superstorm.
Back in Salt Lake City we are rapidly converting our apartment and the HE Travel Farmhouse (old office) into new B&B space. With Trisha and I on the road so much more now, we’ve hired a new maintenance guy and housekeeper to step up progress. This is starting to feel more and more like a real hotel. We’ll be painting the new HE Travel breakroom, common space, and bathroom over the course of today and tomorrow. Woot!
The fun never stops
In a couple of days, Trisha and I will depart for Italy where we’ll be meeting new vendors in the Veneto region (greater Venice), Rimini, and Sicily. Being a person who is obsessed with islands and what they do to isolated cultures, I’m most looking forward to the Sicily trip. Plus, during our adventure exploration, we happen to coincide with our Taste of Sicily gay cultural tour. I’m excited to meet up with the group for some in-the-field feedback, and fun times.
Speaking of fun times, here’s this month’s last-minute tour inventory update:
Costa Rica Dream Adventure Tour – We will be releasing all unused rooms on Oct 5, so don’t delay booking. We still have 1 spot in a room-share and 1 room which can be used privately or by a couple willing to share a bed.
We will also be closing out new bookings on our Japan Gay Cultural Tour. Unused rooms will also be released by October 5. We also have one room-share space available!
I hope to see you on tour!
Warmly,
Zachary Moses
